On September 6, 2022, the twenty-seventh meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reform considered and adopted "Several Opinions on Deepening the Reform of the Academician System". When presiding over the meeting, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed the importance of improving the system and solving outstanding problems, improving the quality of academician selection, giving better play to the role of academicians, and allowing the title of academician to further return to honorary and academic nature.
